Founded by Dr. Meghan Marcum, a board-certified clinical psychologist; Marcum Psychological Services is driven by her belief in evidence-based treatments to achieve effective outcomes. Alongside her clinical work, she conducts forensic evaluations, including Worker's Compensation and Independent Medical Examinations, providing expert testimony when needed. With her expertise in addiction, trauma, mood disorders, and anxiety, Dr. Marcum's practice reflects her commitment to evidence-based care and her dedication to supporting individuals in their journey toward mental well-being.

Evidence-based practices in behavioral health are interventions based on scientific evidence consistently showing that they improve outcomes for individuals receiving treatment.

Despite extensive evidence and agreement on effective mental health practices for persons with severe mental illness, research shows that many clinicians are not providing evidence-based practices to their clients.

Our clinicians work with every client to develop an individualized
treatment plan built using evidenced based interventions. The goal is to provide the client with tools and resources that over time, will allow them to independently address mental health symptoms.

Meet The Founder

Dr. Meghan Marcum, PsyD, ABPP

Dr. Marcum earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Arizona State University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She is board-certified in clinical psychology and has specialized in working with individuals who are struggling with addiction, trauma, mood disorders, and anxiety. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Trauma-focused CBT, and also has experience using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Dr. Marcum performs psychological evaluations that provide diagnostic clarification for adult clients. She holds privileges at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and is a supervising consultant at ADR Wellness, First Responder Wellness, and Norooz Clinic. She is also the Chief Psychologist at AMFM Treatment. Dr. Marcum sees clients via telehealth or in-person at her San Juan Capistrano office.

Dr. Marcum believes in supporting clinicians who are in training to become clinical psychologists. Her associates are registered with the Board of psychology assisting with some psychological assessments and Dr. Marcum is involved in each case.

G. Fareeda Rashed

Licensed Psychologist & Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT, PsyD

Dr. Fareeda is a licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist. She focuses on treating anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, self-esteem struggles, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, and multicultural concerns.

She received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Newcastle – Australia, a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, and a Doctorate in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

She operates from an Attachment lens and incorporates Humanistic techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic approaches. Dr. Fareeda treats individuals 13 and over and has experience working in community mental health, and private practice, and conducting psychological testing and assessments. Throughout the course of therapy, Dr. Fareeda maintains a supportive stance, encourages growth and self-discovery.

Valerie Freatman

Licensed Therapist, PsyD

Dr. Valerie Freatman, is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to helping individuals create meaningful change in their lives. She works with people from all walks of life who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, or simply feeling disconnected from themselves.

Her approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while always tailoring the work to fit her clients unique goals and needs. Therapy with Dr. Freatman is collaborative, grounded, and compassionate. She believes in "honoring your story while also helping you build the tools and insights to move forward with confidence and clarity."
